Event Description

9/11 Pentagon Survivor Guest Speaker at Rose Petal Luncheon Service disabled Veteran and survivor of the Pentagon attack on 9/11 Colonel Jill W. Chambers, U.S. Army (R), will be guest speaker at the Women Veterans 14th annual Rose Petal Ceremony and Luncheon, noon to 2 p.m. on THURSDAY, Nov. 9 at the The Branson Clarion, 2820 W. State Hwy 76.

The annual Rose Petal Ceremony and luncheon, hosted by the Branson Veterans Task Force (BVTF) recognizes women's contributions in the United States Armed Forces. Guests are encouraged to RSVP.

Chambers, CEO of This Able Vet, LLC, is widely recognized as the first person in the history of the U.S. Military to develop a successful, sustainable strategy designed to reduce the crippling stigma associated with mental health challenges in a warrior culture (Post Traumatic Stress, PTS). Chambers was inducted into the Army's Women's Hall of Fame in 2015 for her contributions in this area.

In recognition of her gifts as a leader and her groundbreaking accomplishments throughout her 30 years of service, Chambers was recently selected as a "Next Maker" by AOL and PBS honoring "trailblazing women whose physical, intellectual and emotional strength have opened doors, opened minds and inspired change." She is noted as the first person in military history to be able to successfully break through the barriers of silence on this issue.

Chambers is married to Michael Peterson, musical director and one of the lead singers in Branson's new country show Raiding the Country Vault. They have three daughters, one of which is a Captain in the U.S. Army.

During the Rose Petal ceremony portion of the event, guests are invited to release rose petals into a fountain of water in honor of women veterans they have known or respect. The BVTF offers the luncheon free to women veterans and active duty female personnel. Reservations are required. The public is invited to attend the buffet lunch for a donation of $10. The Branson High School all female Air Force Junior ROTC will provide the Rose Petal Ceremony Color Guard.
